What is the difference between a Woven and an embroidered badge?

An embroidered badge is produced by a stitching process onto a base cloth or garment, it produces a textured and raised design effect. Most suitable for small order quantities and when designs are required to be stitched onto garments. Or of course when a customer wishes to have a more raised, textured effect. The embroidery process often does not allow the same degree of fine detail as a woven badge.

A woven badge is produced as a complete item and with this process we are able to produce superb representation of the required design. As the design is woven into the background this creates a smooth surface to the badge. This process is more cost effective for larger orders. It also allows a higher resolution design which can show much more detail, and is ideal where there is small text. A woven badge is usually produced as an individual item then attached to the garment by sewing, an appliqué process, adhesive, or ironed on.

Are Franklins badges and labels safe for children to use?

For additional confidence Franklins badges and labels are tested for harmful substances according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. The Oeko-Tex label indicates to interested end users the additional benefits of tested safety for skin-friendly clothing and other textiles. In this way, the test label provides an important decision-making tool when purchasing textiles. We feel this is especially important as many of our products are used by children.
